About Dr. Nick Toalster

I am an eye surgeon and have been looking after people’s eye health for more than twenty years. I have spent many years fine tuning what I offer patients in order to help those with the most serious eye conditions, those most at need. I want to bring together a kind, caring approach with my extensive knowledge and advanced surgical skills. I was trained as an eye surgeon by the prestigious Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, in Sydney and have worked at a number of hospitals up and down the Australian Eastern Seaboard and as far north as Darwin.

I went on to do further sub-specialisation in diseases of the front of the eye. While this may sound like a very small part of the body to work on, this allows me to treat a broad range of conditions that really impact patients, including cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disease & pterygium.

I spent two years working in highly regarded fellowship positions, one at the Sydney Eye Hospital and one at The Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital. I am a corneal transplant surgeon and also perform the latest micro-implants for the eye. I also employ the most up-to-date range of lasers to treat eye conditions like focusing problems, glaucoma and retinal conditions.

My aim is to to turn the experience that many patients have of seeing a doctor from a negative one to a truely positive experience. I want patients who I care for to feel that the decisions we make together are making positive steps towards better health. I want communication to be the bedrock of great healthcare and know that on their journey to better health I will be with them every step of the way.
